Title: Simple Church - What is it? Why consider it? How to start it?

Summary: Why? Because 83% of the population in North America does not go to church on a given weekend. This trend has been on the decline for over two decades. Some have suggested that 60% of adults under the age of 40 have not walked into a church building. Is there an effective way of reaching secular and unchurched people?

Session One, Taking an honest look at what is happening in Christianity and Adventism

Description: Not walking our talk has taken a serious toll on Christianity. The trends are shocking. And if we think that Adventists will be exempt, we must think again. But where does Simple Church (lay-led house church planting) fit into Adventism? And how will Adventism respond? It may be tempting to think that house churches are “new,” but they are a very old, new idea found throughout the New Testament.

Session Two, Simple Church – a practical explanation of how it is working

Description: Common Questions: What happens to tithe and offerings? What is the CORE4? What accountability is in place? How is doctrinal purity maintained? Is public evangelism part of Simple Church? How do the multiple locations stay connected into Adventism? Who oversees the Simple Churches? Can anyone transfer to Simple Church?

Session Three, 10 Characteristics of church planting movements.

Description: Mission or Maintenance?

Session Four, Practical Steps to Start a Simple Church

Description: Hi, I'm a church member, a local church leader, a church board member, or a conference administrator and I sense that God might be leading me to plant a Simple Church. What should I do next? Let's talk.
